The Shelter in Place order applies only to non-essential businesses. Because trucking and logistics are critical to maintaining the supply chain, we are considered essential business, and are exempt from these restrictions. At the current time, our daily operations have not been impacted, inclusive of all LTL Service Centers, Drayage operations in both Southern and Northern California, TL operations, all warehouses are fully functional as well as our Logistics group. All of our Teams are working hard to meet our commitments to servicing our customers while keeping the focus on our employees safety.
At Dependable, our top priority is the safety of our people and the customers we serve. We are being flexible for our employees and our customers concerns and conducting business with great caution for both. We encourage all of our customers to insure that that their customers are open and able to accept their shipments when they arrive. This will limit the additional handling and expense of storage and returns of stranded/refused shipments.
We continue to share CDC guidance and best practices with our employees to prevent the spread of the virus, including thorough handwashing, the using of antibacterial products, and “social distancing.” We have enhanced our cleaning and sanitization protocols at all our facilities such as ensuring all commonly touched surfaces like door handles and keyboards are disinfected on a frequent basis. We leave doors open that don’t have to be closed so it doesn’t require touching the door knob and limiting elevators to two people. Additionally, all employees have been advised to stay home should they feel ill.
We also are amending our commercial and residential delivery and warehouse procedures to limit driver-recipient interactions as much as possible.
We continue to explore and implement additional safety measures as this situation develops to best protect our employees and customers.
The State Public Health Officer of California, the County of Los Angeles, and the City of Los Angeles have issued orders directing individuals to shelter at their place of residence, except that they may leave to provide or receive essential products or services or engage in certain essential activities and work for businesses which provide Essential Critical Infrastructure. Dependable Supply Chain Services and the goods and services that it provides fall within the exemptions from the shelter in place health order, because the Company and its employees engage in essential activities, maintain essential infrastructure, and are engaged in essential businesses, as set forth in the health orders and by the federal government.
As we are closely monitoring the situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you that Dependable has taken specific steps to maintain business as usual. Because the services we provide are vital to our customers’ supply chains, we have developed business continuity plans to minimize the potential operational impact this outbreak may create. Our continuity plans include backup facilities for our data center and network operations teams to be able to transition and continue operations seamlessly.
We are committed to maintaining high quality service and dependability for our customers as they continue to fulfill orders and keep inventories flowing. Our hours will remain the same at all facilities, and are taking all of the necessary precautions in the best interest of our customers, employees and their families.
As the situation changes, we will take this day by day and follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local and U.S. government officials.
